CHELSEA KINCH x CAPPS

We're big fans of Chelsea Kinch, and we know we're not alone in that. We visited her in her studio a little while back, and kept finding ourselves wishing we could take a little slice of her paradise home with us. That's where the idea for these hats was born: with each one, you get a little slice of Kinch's work - each patch has been cut straight from one of the canvases she sent home with us.

Part of the proceeds from every hat sold will be donated to Help Maui Rise which directly aids ‘Ohana displaced by fires.

More about Chelsea:

Kinch is an abstract painter from Rhode Island based in Maui, Hawaii, and has been called a catalyst to her local arts community on Maui for her work to support emerging contemporary artists who operate outside of the tourist gaze. She opened and ran a gallery from 2021 to 2022 in the town of Pa’ia for this purpose. Creating community through art and using art as a means to navigate a shared humanity are woven into her path as an artist.

She fell in love with oil painting at the age of ten after being introduced to the medium by an art teacher. Her paintings explore themes of the human condition and ephemerality, especially as they relate to being a woman. Nature, place, and environment also play vital roles in her work.
